• Fasting Requirements: You must fast (abstain from solid foods and colored liquids) for at least 4 to 6 hours before your appointment. This is a safety measure for the administration of intravenous contrast. Plain water is permitted.
• Kidney Function Test (Serum Creatinine): A recent serum creatinine test report (usually within the last 15 days) is mandatory. Since the contrast dye is processed and eliminated by the kidneys, we must ensure your renal function is optimal.
• Allergy Disclosure: Please inform the Scan4Health team if you have a known iodine allergy or have experienced a reaction to contrast media in the past.
• Remove Metal Objects: You will be asked to remove necklaces, earrings, spectacles, and removable dental appliances (dentures). Metal creates streaking artifacts that can obscure the thyroid or larynx.
• Avoid Swallowing: During the few seconds of the actual scan, the technician will ask you to remain very still and avoid swallowing. This prevents motion blur on the images of the larynx and vocal cords.
• Medication Review: Inform our clinical staff if you are taking Metformin for diabetes. You may be advised to pause this medication for 48 hours following the contrast injection.
• Post-Scan Hydration: Plan to drink 8–10 glasses of water over the next 24 hours after the test to help your kidneys efficiently flush the contrast agent.
