• Jewelry: Remove rings, bracelets, and watches from your left hand and wrist before the test, as they can block the ultrasound gel and probe path.
• Stay Warm: Cold temperatures can cause your blood vessels to constrict (shrink) temporarily. Try to stay comfortably warm before your appointment to ensure your baseline blood flow measurements are highly accurate.

• Investigating Left Arm Pain or Fatigue (Claudication): If you experience cramping, aching, weakness, or muscle fatigue in your left arm or hand during repetitive tasks (such as lifting, typing, or reaching overhead) that resolve with rest, it may indicate reduced arterial blood flow.
• Evaluating a Weak or Absent Pulse: If a doctor notices that the pulse in your left wrist is significantly weaker or harder to find compared to your right arm, this scan can locate the exact area of restriction.
• Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) Screening: This condition occurs when blood vessels or nerves in the space between your collarbone and your first rib are compressed. The Doppler can check whether positional movements are restricting blood flow to the arm.
• Assessing Coldness or Discoloration: If your left hand or fingers frequently turn pale, blue, or purple, or feel unusually cold, this test checks for underlying structural narrowing or vasospastic conditions (such as Raynaud’s phenomenon).
